Designed for NVIDIA Products, NVIDIA's new NVDVD Multimedia Software Delivers Video and Audio Playback

LONDON - FEBRUARY 27TH, 2002 - NVIDIA(r) Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA) today introduced NVDVD(tm), a new software-based DVD player/decoder designed and built specifically for NVIDIA's family of graphics and multimedia processors. NVIDIA NVDVD, to be demonstrated this week at the Intel(r) Developer Forum, is designed to power DVD playback for a new generation of NVIDIA-based mobile and desktop PCs.

A complete software DVD solution, developed entirely by NVIDIA, NVDVD utilises an enhanced, state-of-the-art video decoding engine to deliver users a sharper, more true-to-life video image. NVDVD's integrated Dolby(tm)
Digital(r) support delivers the benefits of Dolby Surround(r) technology for users with multi-channel sound cards. For consumers who want to utilise external audio processors such as a home theatre receiver, NVDVD can output direct digital audio via an S/PDIF connector for external processing of Dolby Digital, DTS, MPEG audio or LPCM formats.

* NVIDIA nView(tm) Support - NVIDIA NVDVD takes full advantage of NVIDIA's
nView(tm) multi-display functionality, providing support for video mirroring
- allowing for full-screen DVD playback on one screen, with full Windows(r) access on the other.
* Digital Vibrance Control(tm) (DVC) - NVIDIA DVC allows end users to select and control the colour settings of their display's entire visual output, via a simple control panel, delivering a dynamic DVD experience on any type of display.
* Advanced Frame Capture - NVIDIA NVDVD allows end users to capture high-quality snapshot images from video in the original or adjusted size.
* Auto-Resume - Allows end users to automatically resume playback of a video if playback was stopped prematurely or closed temporarily.

NVDVD supports all of the industry standard DVD APIs, including DirectShowTM, DirectDrawTM, DirectSoundTM, and DirectX(r) Video Acceleration. The NVDVD architecture is uniquely scalable and tightly tailored to the DVD specification and the intricacies of the PC system environment, providing the most seamless navigation experience available. That's great, at this rate ATi could stop improving it's video features and get further ahead of nVidia.

Yeah, I'm being silly, but really, other manufacturers have to catch, that'll get ATi charged up and they'll put out even better features. =)
