Default Tbreak reviews Creative Labs 5 RX 9700

I just was surfing the net and saw on t-break that they were reviewing the RX 5 9700 card.:

"Creative has a very interesting history with graphics cards. Its the only company we know of that has produced graphics cards based on 3DFX, S3, nVidia and ATI technologies. Whats even more interesting is that earlier this year, Creative acquired 3D Labs meaning we shall be looking at Creative's "in-house" graphics cards soon. Now that does raise an interesting point- why would Creative chose to release a Radeon 9700 Pro based card when they're expecting their own 3D Labs solution pretty soon. We dont have an answer for that yet, however, we do have Creative's Radeon 9700 Pro based card- the 3D Labs Blaster 5 RX9700 in out hands today."

You can find the review here

Well, Carmack didn't seem that impressed by the speed of the P10
so maybe they're aiming for a different price range with their own cards.

Yep, seems like the P10 card by Creative will be aimed at a dif market to the 9700. By all previews, it seems that it will be aimed at the mid range. Lets hope it is priced around $249.

TBreak[/url]]There seems to be a problem with the setup we've used for the GF4 as the scores for it just cannot be so low. We used 30.82 drivers and will try out another card and another driver set in the future. However, the RX9700 doesnt stop to impress.
Don't tell me "Quality" enables aniso and they don't realize it. I'm hoping not.

Also, is there a reason a lot of review sites list ATi's memory speed as native DDR and nV's as SDR-equivalent?

For comparison, we've taken nVidia's GeForce4 Ti4600 on the 128MB Gainward Ultra/750XP Golden Sample card which has the core set to 305MHz and memory to 660MHz. Along with that, we took ATI's previous "top-of-the-line" Radeon 8500 running at 275MHz/275MHz Core/Memory on the Gigabyte Radeon 8500 Deluxe. The Creative RX9700 was benchmarked at it's default speed on 325MHz core and 310MHz memory as well as its highest achieveable overclocked score- 365MHz core and 335MHz memory for which we used the latest version of Powerstrip.
Yea, strange.

The ATi-card needs only 310MHz memory to outperform an Nvidia-card using 660MHz Memory. Seems like Nvidia's 3D tech is subpar and needs highend memory to compete roughly with the 3Dtech from ATi. I hope ATi is able to use 660MHz memory too in the future. The speed of the card would be phenomenal, or?
