Impressive stuff! I hope Blizzard will someday make a full feature movie in CG.

OMG Blizzard have always made the best movies and they have outdone themselves again. The detail in that is amazing! I want to throw all my income at them every month just from that movie

High Quality video, image quality on par with FF:The Spirit Within, epic music due to chorus.
I love it

They'd probably like to avoid a box office flop. There's absolutely no audience right now for any CG movie that's not at least part comedy, and thus there's no producer or money to back up such a project.
Besides, turning their 22-25 men team into a 100+ studio would be quite a radical change in many ways as well, which would probably take all their fun away from the whole thing.

IT would have been nice if instead of making this video they spent the time and made a new graphics engine for thier game. Wow looks like zoomed in mode for warcraft 3 . Going from this movie to that is going to break the feel of being imressed

I agree. What were they thinking with that graphics engine, the screenshots look terrible.

They wanted to avoid an EQII and make sure everybody who wants to play their game, can play it.
Same reason they went the direction they did with WC3.

Personally, I think they did a good job with the graphics. Particularly if you take into account the resources they use; if you look at the efficiency of the work, they did an excellent job, at least IMO.

Oh, and btw, it doesn't take as much work to make a full-CG movie than it does to create a good-looking poly-optimized in-game city, because they don't have to take into account polygon limits and texture sizes. For that matter, they usually have a seperate team devoted to such things... Even if you take into account the time for rendering, they, again, usually don't waste time wasting all their available CPU power for it.

Thats great but what are they going to do in 3 years ? Invest in a whole new engine to make it look better ?

Not for nothing but i get 30fps with 6x fsaa at 1600x1200 on my 9700pro.

THey could have at least make it look better . Not only that but dx 8 graphics cards have been on the market for what 4 years now. So everquest 2 can be played by almost any decent pc sold in the last 3 years . 1 ghz cpu with geforce 3 does run this game just fine and it still looks a far site better than wow does .

Remember mmorpgs are played for years on end .

Thats great but that doesn't make the game good lookking . Its not even on par with last years mmorpgs .
