Default OMG I think I just had an epiphany

We need to activate HL2 to play it, I have no problem with that and I like it more than needing a CD in the drive.

What would occur if Valve went out of business? How would I play HL2?

At worst, with a crack. Although most likely they would release a version of Steam that didn't require connecting to their master servers.

what happened to westwood online now that westwood is no longer there. Exactly, you can't play online anymore. isn't that great?

edit: and that didn't even have to include bankruptcy, only EA.

You simple can't play look @ the half-life addon blue shift. Valve promised not to remove WON until all the problems with steam were fixed but they never made it compatible with blue shift. So you can't play MP blue shift online cause they removed WON.

If someone built a WON emulate valve could sue them as their is a no reverse enigneer clause in the EULA for half-life. ( Courts in the US ruled the EULA could over rided the rights to reverse enigneer for inter-compatiblity )

Already if steam is down you can't play MP games online simple as the. Thankfully the are decent companies like iD which when the authentication servers are down allow u to play online.

BOYCOTT VALVE if you have to buy hl2 but it in a store.

Heh. Blue Shift is a standalone install off the CD, doesn't require HL (and hence can run perfectly without Steam compatibility), and has no multiplayer. It's also mediocre, which leads me to believe you're grasping at straws.

Hello? What? Nevermind about your lack of info on Blue Shift, but Valve never ownd WON. WON was/is Sierra/Viende, and they finnished there contract for said servers alongtime ago. The info i get from Steam is the online server being down issue will be resolved. You will be able to play Lan/Online/PV IP. Guess well will see.
