Hi everybody!

I just got an Athlon64 3000+ on an Asus K8V Deluxe - SE (1.004 BIOS) and 2x512DDR400 Kingston memory and i'm trying to guess how to set up the BIOS for optimal performance.

By default i'm getting really poor scores on SiSoft Sandra 2004, both for memory and proccessor power (about 1/2 of what i should be getting). This is with all BIOS settings on Auto and Cool'N'Quiet disabled. If i set the BIOS performance option to "Turbo", i get the scores i was looking for, but problem is it won't boot XP since the last reboot (don't ask me why, it used to work and i didn't install anything new).

So i'm leaving the BIOS setting on AUTO and then trying to configure it myself, but i'm not really sure what parameters should i use to get good performance. Right now the only thing i have set up is memory speed set to 2:1 (400DDR). All CAS and all the other memory settings i don't know what they are are set to auto. I've raised the voltage for everything a couple of ticks up, just in case. Running Windows XP pro with SP1 and latest drivers for everything.

I tried memtest86 both at auto and at turbo settings and it ran without a single error. Weirdly enough, i restarted in turbo mode and this time Windows did work (i had tried 3-4 times before and it didn't). But whereas the memory is performing fine in the Sandra benchmarks, the proccessor is still severely lacking.

My Athlon 64 3000+: 3894 MIPS / 1926 MFLOPS
Test K7 3000+: 8274 MIPS / 3411 MFLOPS

Running at 900 speed x 210 FSB, memory set at 2,3,3,7 (fastest stable settings for memory, i still haven't pushed the CPU further). It used to perform way better before. What am i missing? (Cool'N'Quiet is disabled).
