Good timing. I'm leaving work early today. Guess I'll put down Far Cry this weekend and see how MOHPA treats me.

Found a cool "walkthrough movie" of the demo level. 65 MB (quicktime).

I have never played any high-profile game during the hype period. I'm just about to start KOTOR and I'll probably be playing Doom3 this time next year. Far Cry is sweet though - what made you not finish it?

Played through the demo twice now and well..it's not what i hoped for.
Pretty hysteric level level though, and fun with the banzai attacks.
I thought it was gonna look better though. Pretty washed out and "pale" graphics.
I played it with all settings maxed and 4xAA/8xAF on my X800 and it feels like something's missing...sort of.
Anyway, not bad, but i doubt i'll buy this one. Call of duty still is the king. 8)

Yeah, definitely. Looks good and plays quite nicely, IMHO. Some decent physics too, although there's the odd glitch:

it's their own engine D3D.

Anyway a typical mohaa game which may be a good or a bad thing depends how you look at it but after playing this demo i wouldn't buy the game , it would get boring pretty fast

It's aparently (almost) completly re-written, but it seems like they kept some parts of the Q3 engine.

Honestly, I don't think it looks that good. Performance sucks too (for me at least) - what kinda fps are you guys getting and on what hardware/settings?

Performance isnt good. My comp is in the sig and using a 9800 Pro right now ... and playing the demo at 1280x1024 / all max / noAA/AF ... and the FPS is going as low as mid 20's ... and i saw 1 time 1x FPS .. So you're not alone.

Interesting demo. Brought the resolution down to 800x600 but everything else is high (9800 Pro). The phisycs look great, the enemy AI is kidna lacking somewhere though, hmmm. The glow around the edge polys of the characters is kinda weird too. The game probably isn't finshed though, there are still a few months. I'l play it again later today but this time with sound might make it more enjoyable.

Try checking task manager after you have played this demo, peak memory usage reached a gig.

People with 512MB of RAM are really going to feel the hurt with all the paging.

Just about playable here at 1024x768, no AA/AF. XP@2GHz, 9700P@338/320MHz, 1GB RAM.
