Default Doom 3 - Vertical spikes all over the place with 9800pro

I have tried many versions of the ATI drivers to include all current Omega drivers, the newest DNA set and ATI's 4.7, 4.8 and 4.9 beta. All were removed completely before the next was installed. I have attached a pic below with my issue. If you look closely you can see the spike coming out of his head and backpack, as well as in the background off a light.

Here is my hardware configuration:

P4 3.2Ghz
1GB DDR400
9800Pro 128MB
WinXP Pro

Had a similar experience with my 9700 pro some time ago, though not doom 3 relaterd. It also came along with the textures getting colorful all over the place and I realized that a video ram module was fucked up.
If you have some diagnostic software lying around, use it.
