51 to 52 fps on my 128mb 9800pro at 1024x768 high details (8xAF)

41 to 42.5fps with 2xAA.

Guess these are aimed at x800 mainly.

Quick-n-dirty since I'm on a cleaning/benchmarking blitz!

Don't forget that you don't actually have to install the whole new driver package to take advantage of the new openGL module, just extract all the files from the .exe using winzip and then find the file "atioglxx.dl_" and expand it using winzip also (that "_" at the end instead of an "l" means it is zipped ) and you'll have the file "atioglxx.dll" which you can just copy over into your "D:\Windows\system32\" folder and voila' you got the new openGL. (I recomend backing up your old atioglxx.dll, just in case. I rename mine according to the cat version it's from...this one is now "omeg4.7atioglxx.dll", in case I ever want it later.

Also, some preliminary benches

Before
1. 24.8
2. 29
3. 29.1

After
1. 25.6
2. 29.36
3. 29.1

That's at 1024x768, ultra high, v-sync on, 2xAA on Bubbles...I'm gonna go try "high" now. (In the game I mean, I'm too busy right now. )

How come jvd gets a 5fps boost but everybody else gets ~ 1. Your rig is something special man. Now I believe you really ran KOTOR at 1024x768 6xAA 16xAF on a 9700P

I think he's the only one who has posted R420 results yet, the rest are R3xx.

I expect the R420 will get some big gains from ATi eventually, they still got a lot of room to improve their openGL....I'm not as hopeful about the R3xx to get big gains.

Meh, I don't care....I'm happily playing Doom3 at what I find to be excellent settings and I'm enjoying the hell out of it when I get the chance to play, I got no reasons to bitch. 8) (I guess I'm one of the few weirdos, I'm surprised to find myself enjoying the hell out of this game! )

Well, I got 4 fps. Shows they're doing something right.

Heh. That is pretty good .

Remember guys u have to run it twice in a row. Once to cache everything and once for an acurate score. I have no clue why that is . But my second run is allways 5-10 fps faster.

Regretfully, older hardware, such as 9700's and even 9800's will not get as much benefit. And if paired with a slower system (or with less memory) might see +/- performance improvements.

We are working very hard to get future drivers out that will add quite a bit to the performance of these.

Darn thats not a big problem. all the other cards are performing well. I don't think anyone can complain with the 9800xt a few frames behind the 5950 . Those cards match up right. ITs the new ones that don't for some reason.

Man...and I have a 9700 Pro....I guess I won't load those up.

Has anyone else had random freezes in Doom 3 with their 9700 Pro or something close to that. I'll be running around and it will just freeze for like a second or two. Especially when I open doors and such.

I get a 0.3 fps improvement on a Athlon at 2280 MHz and a non o/c 9800 Pro running at 1280 * 1024 32 bits 85 Hz. From 31.2 fps (catalysts 4.7) to 31.5 fps (catalysts 4.9 beta).

Sounds like your detail settings are too high. As I understand it, when you open the door the game loads up all the textures and whatnot for the next room. If memory is limited, the game will hitch as it clears out some old info and loads in the new data.

Turn off fast-writes, it's been causing a lot of people grief.

I ran NWN at that IQ setting and my minimum framerate was over 40 in the city of Neverwinter with max shadows and all, my avg fps was around 50-60 and I don't see how KOTOR would be any different.

It's in your advanced settings under "SMARTGART(tm)", I also recomend turning off VPU recovery.

I think the stutter on opening doors and such is sound loading, but I'm not sure....I'm still too anxious to play the game whenever I get the chance to be bothered researching it much now.

Hmm, i dont have a smartgart tab under advanced. I swear i used to have it. I jumped from 3.10 to 4.7, i dunno why, never had any issues really. But in 3.10 i am dam sure i had that tab, and i also had vpu recover disabled. Now i have enable write combining under the troubleshooting tab, and it is ticked off, dont know what it does :?

Also wmv acceleration....anywho, i am going to play with some oc'ing now to see if i can eek out some more performance out.

Oh and thanx for the info DW(everytime i type DW i think of darkwing duck)
