Default Avril Lavigne naked!

Well, now that i have your attention, here my serious question:

I'm 27, and last week a friend of mine (also 27) shocked my by telling me that one guy who was in our class at highschool (therefore 26/27 too ) now has a 16yo girlfriend, his piano student actually.
Combine that with the fact that I know guys my age that think Avril Lavigne is hot, while for me she looks terribly young, I'm interested in your opinion on which age difference would you still find natural when you've been/you're now in the late twenties?
I discussed this with various friends with, let's say, various results

Avril Lavigne is almost 20.
Maturity has more to do with it then actual age imo.

Yeah, the age subject (with regards to relationships/sex) is pretty weird. A 15 year old with an 18 year old seems completely weird to me, but a 16 year old and an 18 year old sounds totally normal, even though it's possible for the 16 year old to only be 1 day older than the 15 year old.. it just sets off a switch in my head for some reason.

But then, 20 and 30 together sounds totally normal to me.

I personally have a real hard problem guessing girl's ages.. there have been lots of times I'm talking with a girl and just assume (based on the way she looks and talks) she's at least my age, only to find out later she's like 15 ( I'm 18 ) and be totally weirded out. Then there have been a few times where I was talking with someone who was 20 and I was positive she wasn't over 15 before she told me.

It seems to be getting harder and harder to determine too, with lots of young women these days developing very early. There are girls in my neighborhood that would always come over to play with my dog that, judging from their bodies (and how they flaunt them), you'd think were at least 16-18; but juding by how they acted (and the fact that none of them drive) you'd think they were like 10. I find out later that they're 12 and it's just damn creepy.

It's almost like you gotta ask for an ID before even saying a word

But, anyway, to answer the original question.. as an 18 year old, I can go as low as 16, or as high as around 25. If I were in my late 20s I'd say probably anything from 18 to low-mid 30s.

Provided the experience, maturity, intelligence, and mental development is present(this might require some additional tech advances). That none of the parties attempts to manipulate the other, that is both are sincere. All age differences are natural. Cultural preconceptions and biases that distort the mind might affect the judgement of some(To whom I say open your eyes).

I think one of the worst problems is that of manipulation, which might be performed by the more intelligent and experienced individual in a relationship. That's a problem that can affect relationships between 20-30-40-50+ individuals.

This is one area where the logical portion of my brain hasn't quite overcome the brainwashing throughout my childhood.

I know, logically, that age difference means nothing, assuming neither party is trying to manipulate or deceive the other and both are sufficiently mature and intelligent to know what they're doing.. but even when I meet couples that meet all those assumptions, and I later learn about their ages it still sets off a short circuit in my brain - "she's HOW old?!"

I'm getting better at it, but I'm not there yet

I'll be 20 in August. I'm in love with a girl who turned 15 in April. She's as mature and intelligent as I am and I'm not rtyint to manipulate her. Sex is off the table, and not because of age- it just is. I don't see a problem with this, although her mom doesnt like the idea... she wants to get to know me better before we're allowed to date... but the girl doesnt feel quite the same way about me so it might not even matter.

I try to stick with the 3 year rule.

Its hard after both parties turn 21 i think it gets easier.

But if your in college and she is in highschool its just two diffrent worlds.

I'm 32 and met someone recently aged 18.

She thought I was about 24 years old and I thought she was around 20-21.

I am very aware of my age but am also aware that I look alot younger than I really am(not that it's bad). So I try to be as truthful straight from the start. So when the age conversation came up and she asked me how old I was a week after I met her, I told her. She was abit shocked but hey things got on better after that. She jokes around that I'm old enough to be her Uncle(her aunt is 30) and I joke that my nephew is already 12. She's studying in the (IT)network field and I've been doing networks for about (7 years now). Only problem is she's studying around 500km away but we keep in contact with sms.

Next Month is her Birthday and she turns 19. I intend to spoil her abit.(btw that doesn't mean have sex).

There is no rule of thumb for relationships. The older you get, the less important is the mere number of years seperating you and your partner, what matters more once you're out of your teens is similarities in other areas (life experience, maturity, interests, etc.). 27 and 16 seems a bit critical because 16 is really a point in life where a lot of people are not yet mature despite thinking otherwise and there are also legal problems involved. Change that to 29 and 18 and I don't really think its that big a problem.

A friend of mine started a relationship with a 35 year old when she was 20 and it lasted several years now (a friend of hers has is actually togethe with a 48 year old now, at more than twice her age that's something that really makes you go "huh"). Probelms often don't arise in the relationship itself, but rather how a social environment can deal with the issue. A couple can be as harmonious and happy as it can be, if their friends and families can't deal with the relationship they'll have a hard time...

My wife's sister (23) has just married a man in his late 40s, the rest of the sister's family is totaly shocked (there's also the fact she broke up his marriage ) but I gotta admit I'm not in the slightest bit bothered. In fact it's turning out to be really useful. The guy owns a rare book shop and gave me a first edition v.good condition print of the Silmarrilion for my birthday.

I'm 39 and I wouldn't imagine having any problems going out with a girl half my age.

As long as she's hot, of course. Preferably likes micro-minis and is at least 5' 7".

Obviously, my wife has no idea there's a site like this.

I must be getting old or something - I know who she is and what songs she has sung but I can't honestly see why anyone get excited by either her music or her looks. She just appears as a sulky teenager to me which doesn't really float my boat

Perhaps if I owned a skateboard I'd feel differently?

Ahh. I've never heard of her, but Google turned up some pictures of some miserable looking bird.

Hasn't the teenage angst thing been done before? Repeatedly? Until it got boring?

Eh?

So I'm not a perv for looking after my beautiful 18-22 year old scantily-clad outdoor summertime female coworkers every day of the week for the entire summer?
