Default 6800 Ultra's shipping, or are yields really too terrible?

Today, June 30, is the ETA for many OEM's to obtain/have 6800U's available to ship. Of course, these ETA's are usually just best-guess, but I wonder if any cards will actually start shipping...

The small (50+ user) business I work for has, on order an Ibuypower PC, spec'd with a 6800 Ultra. Ibuypower.com had the 6800U on the video card drop down list in their system configurator. Up until yesterday, it was listed with (ETA 6/30) in brackets. As of today, its just listed with no qualifications. I'm hoping that they may have some stock to ship, although they may just be waiting to put in a new, extended ETA.

Regardless, if/when this machine arrives, as the Director of IT, I'll be performing some "extended burn-in" on this card.

Looks like digi was right though, this card certainly isn't gonna be generally available to consumers before July.

Congrats! ...but you're in Beijing!!! Hope they're not shipping them here on a slow boat from China.

Weather's great here in NYC.

Sadly, I have to update my Location.
After living the past 15 years in Brooklyn (Carroll Gardens), I just moved way up to Washington Heights in northern Manhattan. The wife got a job in Hackensack, just across the GW Bridge. No way was I moving to Jersey, so the Heights (where I was born) was the best alternative. Still miss Brooklyn...

To be fair, Digi seems to have been changing his July criteria more and more as time has gone on. At the start, IIRC, it was that NO ONE would have any before July. Now it's "The top end model won't be widely available" before July. Moving goalposts, and all that 8)

Unless I'm remembering wrong, of course.

No you're right. Can't blame him too much though, it's tough playing soothsayer.

"In quantity" and "readily available for purchase" were the qualifiers I put on it if'n I remember correctly.

How about "you were in the ballpark" (or whatever the hell the phrase is). Would you settle for that?

As for ultras , still none in jersey . But compusa is starting to get the x800xts on the shelves and not just through the net

eVGA.com lists the GeForce 6800 and GeForce 6800 GT as "in stock," with the Ultra on backorder. I think the limitation is that at this point in time, most of the people looking for a GeForce 6800 are looking for the Ultra. This will change in the next few weeks, of course. I remember seeing a listing of the "most popular" on one seller's site (I think it was at eVGA, actually, but I can't seem to find it now) that listed the 6800 Ultra as the most popular, followed by the 6800, and finally by the GT (which seems odd to me, as the GT seems to be the best deal).

haha a tec is a peliter . Which is basicly a hot cold plate. One side gets very hot (125watt hot) and the other side gets extremely cool.

You put the cool side up against the gpu and the hot side hooked up to a water cooler ..

Same set up i can get my x800xt up to 690mhz . But tis to hard to maintain and i need a rig just for that .

its okay man. You can do it with out a watercooling rig. it just might not work to well with a fan because of all the heat .

Some people do it on the cpu with a standard heatsink.

http://www.thermalright.com/a_page/m...duct_xp120.htm you can hook this sucker up. It might be able to handle a 125watt one .

Peltiers are no longer that popular .

Some people make a water chiller. Basicly a huge heatsink on the hot side and water blocks on the cold side. Which the water runs through before it goes to the cpu.
