Default ATI unleashes revolutionary RADEON™ visual processors

ATI unleashes revolutionary family of RADEON™ visual processors

RADEON™ 9000, RADEON™ 9000 PRO and RADEON™ 9700 selected by industry leading OEMs, AIB manufacturers and system integrators

MARKHAM, Ontario, July 18, 2002 - ATI Technologies Inc. (TSX:ATY, NASDAQ:ATYT) today introduced the RADEON™ 9000, RADEON™ 9000 PRO and RADEON™ 9700 visual processors, the newest additions to ATI's product lineup. Delivering best-in-class features and performance, this family of graphics products leads the graphics industry into a new realm of visualization.

"ATI is defining the visual experience on the PC platform with the introduction of this revolutionary new line of visual processors," said Dave Orton, President and Chief Operating Officer, ATI Technologies Inc. "These products are the culmination of our unwavering focus on technology and performance leadership. The acquisition of the ARTx design team known for developing the graphics in Nintendo's GAMECUBE™; the creation of concurrent product development teams; and strategic research and development investments were all key factors in delivering these winning products."

ATI remains committed to rapidly introducing revolutionary new architectures and moving high-end technologies into the broader, mainstream market at a fast pace. RADEON 9000, RADEON 9000 PRO and RADEON 9700 have received overwhelming support from original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and system integrators. The product introductions are timely, aligning with OEM product schedules and the key back to school and holiday retail buying cycles. In the coming weeks, several industry-leading OEMs will introduce products based on ATI's newest RADEON technologies.

"We are delivering the right products at the right time," said Rick Bergman, Senior Vice President, Marketing and General Manager, Desktop, ATI Technologies Inc. "We are introducing Microsoft®'s DirectX® 9 into the enthusiast segment and are aggressively moving DirectX® 8.1 into the mainstream segment. With these products we will lead in all segments."

ATI is partnering with graphics board companies to bring a variety of products and configurations to market around the world. These product introductions mark the first time that ATI has introduced a family of products simultaneously with its board partners. Add-in-board (AIB) manufacturers that are working with ATI to bring the RADEON 9000, RADEON 9000 PRO and RADEON 9700 based products to market include:
  • Connect3D
  • Creative Labs
  • CP Technology Co., Ltd.
  • Giga-Byte Technology Co., Ltd.
  • Hercules Guillemot
  • Hightech Information Systems Ltd.
  • Sapphire Technology Ltd.
  • Super Grace Electronics Ltd.
  • Tyan
  • Unitech Electronics Co., Ltd.
"ATI is at the leading edge of industry inflection points. The company is innovating at the high end and leveraging those technology advancements throughout its roadmap," said Dr. Jon Peddie, President of Jon Peddie Research, the leading analyst firm in graphics and multimedia. "ATI is working closely with independent hardware and software companies and with standards organizations helping to ensure its visual processors drive the PC platform and the visual experience forward."

RADEON 9000 and RADEON 9000 PRO based products are available immediately, and RADEON 9700 series products will be shipping in volume in August. For more information on these and other ATI products, please visit www.ati.com or our partners' web sites.
