"it's for sure" meaning someone can go and buy a card somewhere today and take it home with them?!?

If so, you're right and I DO need to update me connections a bit.... :?
I want to know where I can go and buy a x800Pro somewhere today and take it home.

heh, if you think your going to have an easier time getting a 6800 at this point in time well... Soon enough I think you will find the x800pro in fair quantities. I don't think you will be able to say the same thing about the 6800 16 pipe GT or for that matter the ultra variety any time soon. I really do think that NV will have difficulties providing that architecture on mass for some time. It will be available in very limited quantities for some time.

All of this bitterness towards each other from NV and ATI is just getting silly. This bitterness and sense of rivalry also spreads indirectly to the people that buy each respective company's cards. Competition does not get much more cutthroat than this, especially since these are the two dominant players in the desktop graphics gaming segment. Personally, I would love to see another "real" player enter the graphics card market and provide a challenge for ATI and NV. Both of these companies need to be humbled to a certain extent. Instead of feeding off each other in a positive manner, they are trying to bring each other down. Very unfortunate really.

I think It's quite obvious that over the next 12-18 months we are going to see many games using mainly PS 2.0 and only using a PS 3.0 feature (like dynamic branching) where is makes sense too do so (coding and performance wise).

Would this be a good or bad time to mention this -

I was personally expecting review samples by tomorrow, but that doesn't seem to be the case either, with the whole product line slipping due to NVIDIA's incessant fiddling.

So, if you hear someone tell you that the Ultra's core clock is 440MHz now, don't dismiss it out of hand. I never told you that though.

It stands to reason that if Gainward's 6800 product is slipping, so is everyone elses, so don't expect a board until next month at the very least. They've all got a lot of BIOS flashing to do.

I see [H] got a response about the slides from Derek Perez:

Quote:
Kyle's Update: I just got off the phone with NVIDIA PR front man Derek Perez. He did confirm that the slides linked above are NVIDIA's creation. The slide are just a few from a set of "20 or 30" that were developed by NVIDIA's USA Product Marketing team that were to be used only as a sales tool internally. Derek did say, "I am not going to apologize for them." He went on to explain how they need to outfit their sales teams as they see fit.

Nope, I'm rather hopelessly monolinguistic.

Could you just give me a rough translation?

DW, here is the translation:

Quote:
1st 6800 dispos! First Ultra GeForce 6800 have just made their appearance... in Japan! Sold under the Inno3D mark, these charts whose design was that of reference were at varying prices from 520 to 540? H.T. according to stores'. The availability was however reduced, and ten charts available left in a few hours. Ultra GeForce 6800 as well as the variations WP and standard should be available in greater quantity universally during the first fortnight of June.
You can translate some languages to english in the future by going to www.google.com and clicking on "language tools".

I usually use babelfish, but I always prefer a real person translation as they always make a whole bunch more sense.

Thanks though, I appreciate it.

The summary is: 1st 6800U available in Japan. They are Inno3D cards and the price is around 520-540€ VAT non inc. The 10s of cards have been bought in a few hours. The first true availibility worldwile should be during 1st half of june for 6800U and GT.

So basically they sold 10 6800 Ultras in Japan today? Cool, if true I guess I were wrong.

It could have said "around 10 per store" or something for a chain and it was just lost in translation.
