Haha If I'm honest, the real reason I haven't spoken about it yet is that we're being careful at the moment about what we say about the TBDR parts of our products in public. It's hard to discuss PMX590 without discussing the front-end.

I promise to revisit it though, since I want us to do the same thing for Kyro for a friend of B3D who's trying to write something about that era.

Tbdr isnt secret is it it was in the original powervr it should be old hat by now, its even explained on wiki.
ha searching for pmx590 on google I discovered you have a blog, you kept that quiet as well
ps: find the name of the dude who threw out the chips. I will strangle him for you....

pps: Since you write about retro games and programming side projects, any chance you could write a program that would report 16mb vram to a game
some old games when they see 2gb+ vram they just spaz out and refuse to run

The 1000ft overview of TBDR is quite different to discussing implementation details which is what I'd planned, to give some contextual differences to PMX590 and SGX.

As for your VRAM issue, I suggest building a PC with the hardware from the era

If he acts quickly enough, he can find entire computers from that era at my city's electronic recycling center from when I hauled away my systems Saturday.

Any chance y'all could add a dark skin during the downtime?

Are you going to upgrade to the up to date vBulletin Version 4.2?

No plans for a dark skin or update to 4.2 during the migration. Pretty sure the move will have us focus on the forum software again though in general; I've already had a quick look at XenForo to see what the state of the art is.

I've resorted to cmd-opt-ctrl-8 on a Mac (aka Universal Access white-on-black, also on iPhones), though some transition screens have an incongruous black background that turns into a flashlight app when the colors are inverted.

I'm seeing a handful of my replies ending up in a different thread than the one I posted it in; apparantly completely randomly. This has been happening over the course of a few months now.

Surely I'm not the only one to experience this recently-ish?

I think you will find that mods move posts they think have value but to them belong in a different thread.
