No worries, I am quite busy, too.

Cheers,

Busy is a good word. Unix and Oracle databases, ugh.

Update time: performance results are neatly compiled, primed and arranged. We ultimately (and sadly) decided to drop the ATSP from the final scoring since it was reasonably across the board over the entire run of the contest, and it also wouldn't have caused an upset whilst having the potential to muddy the waters. Be warned though, the next contest will be ATSP only

At this point in time we are waiting for some final referee input, since his ended up being an overall bad timing, with people being highly caught up (BUILD2012 happened, AMD decided it was time to shake like a mambo dancer etc.). The second those are in, winner can break out the champagne. I will say that this has been a rather tight battle.

I'll pop the cork out in any event!

Say, just as a minor thing, regardless how things are and shall develop, did the the scoring on my part use the latest submission, submission number six, or the second latest, submission number five?

The last since it was your best (in the context in which we decided to take out the ATSP).

Hi Alex,

any news? Do you have a rough ETA for the announcement of the winner of this contest?

Thanks,

- Bernd

Apologies for the utterly atrocious delay. Final results will be published this Wednesday at 23:59 GMT, so that you'll get to play with the prizes for Christmas. Thank you for not bursting into flames at our procrastination!

I guess the deadline got pushed to next Wednesday.

I became to wonder if the Visual Studio license be the 2012 one from the beginning? I'm indeed enjoying some winter holidays and all (a bit later than Christmas, which is only a few days off from work) and thought about a bit of return to my mobile programming roots and do some Windows 8 handset programming.

Results are out...finally! I do hope you gentlemen won't hate me (more than usual) for the delay. It is my opinion that you both did a swell job!

To my knowledge, the VS 2012 license comes in the form of a VS 2010 + MSDN license that is upgradeable to VS 2012. Back when we drew everything up it was uncertain when we'd finish and if VS 2012 would be available by then, so this was the best option. Also, you guys should check your inboxes

In the final tally you have applied the 10 percent weight for code quality twice (yielding a total of 91 percent), but seeing as they are judged to be equal there it doesn't really matter. Anyway, the correct numbers should be 89,143 and and 85,966.

Edit: And big congrats to the winners. Well and chivalrously fought.

I just read the results. It could not have been closer!

Thanks again, Alex, Microsoft, and AMD for hosting this fabulous contest.
Veikko, you have been a tough sparring partner. I am still licking my wounds.
In the next few days I will study your implementation.

Happy Holidays everybody!

Likewise, my thanks and nods too.

I think I got away with only a few bruices to my programmer ego.

Feel free to ask if you find something. I haven't checked your code yet (might take some days, enormously busy at work and kids in stomach ache), but for what you wrote, your solution was quite more elaborate than mine. I went more with simple is beautiful, albeit I left notes how would I improve things other than tweaking the code. In that regard too, your victory was well earned.

Now, I can concur on this account too!

No problem. My thanks for Beyond3D, AMD and Microsoft too.

Let's see now if I can arrange better time in the future to do stuff.

I'll do that, sometime later today. Just want to give collective congratulations for the good us.
