Kyocera Selects NVIDIA GoForce 4000 Handheld GPU for New A5515K Handset

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Feb. 10 -
Consumer interest in multimedia convergence devices is growing, and phones that can rival the quality of stand-alone imaging devices, such as digital still cameras and video cameras, are beginning to arrive on the market. NVIDIA Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA - News) announced today that Kyocera Corp., one the fastest growing 3G suppliers in Japan, has selected the NVIDIA GoForce 4000 handheld graphics processing unit (GPU) to power these multimedia features on its new A5515K mobile phone.

Harnessing the power of the NVIDIA GoForce 4000 GPU, the Kyocera A5515K mobile phone offers consumers an extensive range of multimedia features. These include a 3.2 megapixel camera with auto focus, capable of encoding an image in under a second and capturing videos at a resolution of 240 X 320 at 15fps, all displayed on a stunning 2.2-inch QVGA screen. In addition, NVIDIA nPower(TM) technology enables all of these features at a fraction of the power consumption afforded by traditional software based solutions, extending battery life and delivering a more satisfying user experience.

"Our handheld strategy is to continue to set the benchmark for 3G multimedia features, quality and performance," said Michael Rayfield, general manager for handheld GPUs at NVIDIA. "Delivering enjoyable, high quality multimedia features with no-compromise performance has been a driving force behind the work we have done with Kyocera for this handset. We are delighted to work with them on this device delivering a compelling user experience to their customer base around the world."

Kyocera joins a growing global roster of NVIDIA mobile partners, including Motorola, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, LG, Mitsubishi, Mitac, DBTEL and many more.
