interesting project
but the time they are NT4 Compatible, all Apps and more importand drivers will need NT5 or better. IMHO they should integrate NT5 driver support to linux.

well,
i've helped these guys out one time on an in process com api. The thing is they do actual provide nt5 compatibility. In their source code they actually put defines around things they want for nt4 and nt5. So in the longterm you could just compile an nt4 clone from the same sources which compile to nt5. I think if a few more developers would hop on the wagon they might have a usable os soon. I tried to tackle opengl or something but it seems that microsoft closed their OpenGL/ICD documentation so it is really hard to implement opengl. DirectX might be a little easier as you can freely find documentation on the directx driver api. Well I hope someone tackles it soon enough ... I'm glad reactos starts to run applications (gcc for self hosting) so that's a start. Hope to see more from these guys soon. Jurgen |
