I have a Ati 9500 no pro (4 pipes and 256 bits mem, but it's not soft-moddable), and i'm able to change it for a 9500 Pro (8 pipes and 128 bits mem). Mine is running at 395/600, and I'm wondering which one will perform better. I don't know in what cases the fillrate is best and in what the double bandwidht will help more. I'll thank you if you could enlighten me a bit.
Thanks. |

pro version should run higher resolutions better...but it is quite limited with half the memory bandwidth..
Probably looking at a similar situation with the X700pro vs the 9800XT. |

256 bits mem bus with only four pipes is nearly useless: 9500 Pro should be faster.

what happens when you softmod it??
My old 9500np would give the dreaded checkerboard artifacts when modded then i stumbled upon a bit of info saying the disabling hierarchal Z might sort it out and it did!! worked with 8pipes perfectly like that.....might want to give it a shot? |

I would skip the pro and get the new card ATI is offering for $200 it is a lot faster.
As for performance numbers my card runs at 360Core and 315 ram.
