I know that i'll get many different opinions about this. I'm not looking to spend tons of money but my fan and heat sink is stock and i'd like to upgrade. Was just curious what is the best fan and sink for a 9800 non pro?
Thankyou |

Artic Cooler makes the best as far as I am concerned. They have new models for the old boards as well. I got one for my 9800se as it gets friggin hot here in summer and will never look at a non OTES style system again.

Anyone else have an opinion or is Ignorance the only one that has an opinion on this topic?

Thanks Hulk, I was under the impression the Rev. 3 was for 9600's. I have seen people that use them on their 9800 Pro's. Do you think it would work on a 9800 Non Pro being that their basically the same card. And what is the advantage over getting the Rev 3, as apposed to the fan that is supplied for the 9800 the Silencer 1?
Thanks again |

I think the rev. 3 is quieter than the new ones. It uses cloudy, not clear plastic, which transmits less noise. It also has a manual fan speed switch, while I believe the newer Silencers are all automatic.
No clue about reliability, but if the rev. 3 is cheaper, I'd probably go for it. |

Can I use a Rev 1 Artic Cooler that I used on my 9700Pro on a 9800SE?

Thanks Pete, yeah I think the Rev 3 looks better, in most aspects and it is $6 cheaper on Newegg. Thanks for the replies i'll have to grab one of these puppies asap!
As for you Randell i'm not an expert by any means but is seems that all the Arctic Coolers that fit the 9600 and 9700 also fit 9800's. Once again that is just an observation I have made not at all am I 100% confident. Hope that helps. Thanks |

I'll have a look tonight.
Stunner1984, I can confirm they work very well indeed. cooled my 9700pro so well it reduced my overall system temps by several degrees as well and quieter than stock HSF even on high fan setting.
