Maybe this is what ATI waiting for.
ATI bridge chip on way http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=18853 The chip to turn a PCIe chip to AGP. They say it will come in 2005. I think Nvidia will beat ATI in bringing 6600 to AGP first because they have the bridge chip already. |

So which card do you guys think will be the top in preformance?
Like if I understand correctly Nvidia will be better graphicswise (pipelines and such. and ATI will be better preformance (clock speed, mem speed, optimizations) |

I'm waiting for agp 6600's to appear.
Could be my next card, as this NV35 of mine is really starting to suck |

While you are waiting for the 6600, think about the 6800LE as well... In europe it seems to be pretty widely available for 199 euros (same price as the PCI-e 6600 non-GT 256MB variant and probably cheaper than a 6600GT PCI-e when it turns up).
The 6800LE may have a crippled 6800 core (8x1 pipelines as default like the 6600 series, but slower clocks), however Rivatuner 15.2 now has a software modification option which allows you to reactivate the core back up to 16x1 pipelines. Obviously some cards contain damaged pipelines, but a surprising number of 6800LEs are being reported with fully functional pipelines (including my own). So for 199 euros I have a card which performs in every way identically to a 6800NU card, just with the help of a simple installed driver from Rivatuner. Fully reversible process... Very good value for money indeed - I could never have got this performance from a similarly priced 6600/X700 since they don't have the extra pipelines to reactivate. |
