Default Slapped a GPU+Ram waterblock on my 680GT, some pics

Im using Innovatek's block, cools the GPU and ram at once. I got it mainly because its so slim. The DangerDen block would have never fit, its far too thick. I still had to shave some of the plexi from my chipset block, which I really didnt want to do. Not so sure I like the 3 channel approach they took to cool the ram, but whatever.

Before my idle temp was 57c, now its 54c. Didnt expect it to drop much, because its clocked down when in 2D mode. Load temps dropped over 20c. From a very toasty 87c at full load, down to 66c, when the rad fan is on high. When its not, it stays around 71c under load.

It overclocked pretty well with the stock fan, its a BFG 6800 GT OC, with a default speed of 370/500. It used to do around 420Mhz core before, now does 440Mhz core. At 440Mhz its 100% stable. I tried 450Mhz, but the test that coolbits makes you take, failed. It passed at 445Mhz, but has a lot of artifacts. But as I said, 440Mhz is stable, and it has zero artifacts. Which leads me to believe the card is not getting enough power. Either from not enough from the BIOS, or lack of dual molex's. I dont recall seeing any GT doing more than 440Mhz, without a BIOS flash, or vmod. I have not tested the ram yet, so I dont know how much, if any I gained.

Had this done for a few weeks, thought Id share.

Heh, I had the exact same Cool-Matic NV40 on my 6800 GT before the card died. Cool stuff, so to speak.

What happened?

I tested the ram, it does 1.18. So a total overclock of 440/1.18. I didnt try anywhere inbetween 440 and 445, it might do 443, but I dont care. I like round numbers. Very close to Ultra Extreme speeds.

Check for low power. I am not sure but aren't GTs throttling at around 440mhz because of the missing 2nd molex. I think you run in low power mode.

Im not sure that you can force it more power? Its on a clean line, on a PC Power&Cooling 510 ATX Deluxe, so Im pretty sure the power is steady, strong, and clean.

In my first post, I guesed that it needed a vmod or BIOS flash to go higher. I dont want to do either though (so I can resell it later).

Those are the exact temps and overclock I got with my PNY 6800GT w/ Koolance water cooling. Very interesting, to say the least!.....

Check the nvnew for the low power thread. I don't think your good PSU will help there. It might run at 440mhz but it's struggling without you knowing it MAYBE. You can read out a log with coolbits where low power is reported afaik.

Very nice looking case, too, if you don't mind my saying so. What is it?...

I've got a Lian-Li PC60 AL at home, which your case reminds me of, only yours seems "purttier" as pictured here. But I like the PC60 a whole lot because it is 23 inches deep and I love the extra depth (I won 't buy another 18-20"-deep case.) Yours looks about as deep as mine if not deeper and I guess is a full tower since I count six or so 5.25" vertical drive bays (and I have four.) Did you remove your hard drive bays to place the pump?

Cabling is nice and neat, very clean box. The kind of box you don't mind going into from time to time, I'm sure... More photogenic than I see in 90% of the case reviews I read!

It is the full tower, the pc-70. I just need to figure out how to put a good watercooling setup in my pc-30, that would be slick.

Looks pretty cool, but, um, why do you have a cooler on the chipset?

And, you may know this, but if you move to a larger reservoir outside the case you'll get better cooling performance.

nForce3 can get toasty when overclocking.
