What I am more interested in is where did the 4xOGSS+9-tap shots come from? Where they taken on a different card or does NV40 support all the legacy Nvidia AA modes, such an Quin. 2x and 4x, 4xS, 6xS, etc? |

3dceneter had two NV40 articles? Excellent work as usual.
Interestingly, unofficial 8xM mode provided quality very similar to the official 8x mode, while being ~50% faster. In fact, there seems to be something seriously screwed up with 8x AA, since the two 16x AA modes are significantly faster as well. Altought, this still doesn't seem to explain those 4x Quincunx shots. |

their second 8x pattern is a little out, it's the 4x 'rotated grid' with 2x supersampling and so each subsample should be occupying a unique position horizontally. This is shown on the vertical lines on their tester pics.

I can't imagine nvidia gonna user A1 samples for the final boards. It looks like even the AIB didn't know the real specs, Albatron sai 600/1000mhz, Gigabyte say 400/1000mhz and MSI speaks about higher Clocks.

So any chance of Nvidia enabling those 'unofficial' AA modes in their final release? I didn't read the entire article but I didn't pick up on any disadvantages to them.
