Hah. Online it's $500. Interesting, though, as it implies ATI will have a full lineup around the time of the R420 launch...

It has to be a mistake. The part # advertised turns up a 9600XT on their web site. here Can they be held to this deal?

Looks quite clearly to be an error, and they will most probably have to honour that price for a 9800XT to anyone who walks into their stores armed with that advertisement. Won't be long before the "out of stock" sign goes up, anyway.

Most places have a clause for errors like this. Maybe a few people will get lucky though.

But to entirely botch the verbage of the part? I can understand 9800XT vs 9600XT, but 256M vs 128M?

I wish there was a Fry's in Cleveland...

I don't know about the US, but in the UK the price on a product is merely "a suggestion" (since you can actually barter if you really want to) and doesn't have to be honoured... I'm pretty sure that hold true for advertisements too.

In New Zealand that isn't the case. The Fair Trading Act forces them to honor advertised prices and there have been several cases of companies mucking up website pricings and then having to honor orders placed at that price.

this is very similar to what happened with Best Buy a few years back when the Geforece 4 Ti4600 was advertised for $140 i think, and this caused quite an uproar with the majority of buyers who were turned down by this price. However, there were 100 or so lucky people who did get their ti4600s for that price. In the end, Best Buy changed the error and charged for the full original price. I'll browse through my MaximumPC issues for the details later. Too bad there arn't any Fry's Electronics here in the Northeast U.S., because i'd definately go check it out.
