Icon Question Xcode install if f'ed up - help?

At some point I'd thought I'd upgraded from Xcode 3 to Xcode 4. In the App Store it said I had Xcode 4 installed. In Xcode, the "About" showed 3.3 (or 3.2?). App Store does not have a "reinstall" option, so I uninstalled Xcode from the terminal. Problem is, App Store is still saying I have Xcode installed. Now what the hell do I do?

I guess your Xcode 4 is installed ok, it's just that the icon in your dock or something is still pointing to the old Xcode.
Note that the latest Xcode reside in the normal Application folder instead of the Developer folder.

Oh, that's odd. When I did a spotlight search for Xcode, I didn't find anything other than the install in the Developer folder. I'll look when I get home and see if there's anything under Applications. I didn't realize the installation location had changed.

I also would have assumed installing the new version would remove the old one, but I guess some people would want to have both installed at the same time.

Yeah, I'm an idiot. When you do the install through app world, it leaves a package in your applications folder that does the install of the new version. For some reason, I didn't notice it when I was searching through spotlight to see if I had more than one version installed. It's all sorted.

So, if you're using an older version and upgrade through app world, make sure to run the installer, because even though app world says, "Installed," it isn't installed yet.
