Yeah, I tested the link and it seems to be broken.

Yes.

Well, actually there are two competing remakes of this game, one of them is true to the original, one of them is pretty much what you've described. I can't remember which is which.

Edit: I think XCOM is the FPS/TPS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XCOM) and XCOM Enemy Unknown is the tactical, turn-based one (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XCOM:_Enemy_Unknown).

It will be interesting to see which one is most successful.

It seems, that the links are fine, but it isn't possible to download any driver from www2.ati.com at this moment...

I wonder if this release fixes the problems with 12.4 and the 4000 series in some games. I will try it on my 3850 when I get a chance.

You want 9.11 so you can play Flash in hardware. I have a notebook with a 3450 and found that out with a lot of web searching. I suppose if you game then the latest drivers could be worthwhile though. But the 34x0 is so slow at any sort of modern gaming...

Unfortunately, because AMD does not appear to keep an archive of Mobility drivers, I have been unable to find a working Mobility 9.11 package and have to force install the desktop release. Mobility Modder doesn't work past ~9.3 apparently.

On my 7850 I was having periodic display corruption issues with the 12.7 beta when either just idling or watching videos and plenty of driver stopped responding messages and it would often fail to resume from the S3 power state(or the long idle state I think), giving me just a blank screen, was getting pissed when I decided to try the 12.6 WHQL drivers, the issues disappeared but I have to use ctrl alt del to wake my monitor up now, like my video card isn't turning back on or something till I do so. I presume having to bring up task manager to get my display to turn back on from sleep is not a design feature, so how do I fix that?
I do have a rather shit mobo, Msi 870A-g54, not sure if that has anything to do with it, I have the latest bios, however.

Even though the Beta-page states resolved issues for Windows XP, I cannot find a 12.7 beta that installs under XP - typo?

"Resolved Issues for the Windows® 7, Windows Vista® and Windows XP Operating System

Elder Scrolls: Skyrim- screen flickering when in AMD CrossFire™ mode
Note: This issue was first observed with version 1.6 of Skyrim."

They are missing. But you can download XP version of the QQ-fix built on 12.7 beta here: http://downloads.guru3d.com/AMD-Cata...load-2938.html

Great! That also answers my second question which I was about to post: Where to get OpenCL for XP. 12.6 and 12.4 do not seem to have it, but this hotfix does. Thanks!

edit: Looks like I cheered to early. Anyone here seen an OpenCL-enabled Tahiti-Driver for WinXP? APP-SDK 2.6 didn't work for me either.

What do you mean? Youtube says (fullscreen mode): accelerated video rendering, software video decoding. On my desktop PC with a HD4850 video decoding is done by the GPU.
Will I get hardware decoding with 9.11?

AMD only requires its second-generation Unified Video Decoder (UVD2 for discrete and UVD+ for integrated).

If you run Catalyst 9.11, yes the 3000 series discrete chips will also do accelerated decoding. It allows me to watch 720p Flash video on my slow Athlon Neo subnote that has a 3450. That is the only driver release that will do it. It seems a little touchy because scaling the window and seeking can cause it to drop back to software decode, but it definitely does work.

swaaye: Does it work only with HD 3000, or both HD 2000 / 3000?

It works with both my desktop HD 3850 and notebook HD 3450, but I don't have any HD 2000 series hardware around to try.

It looks like I have to kill all newer DLLs with DriverCleane to install 9.11, but I won't do that.

I haven't found a nice package of 9.11 that will automatically install on my notebook. I have to do a manual driver install. On the desktop with 3850, the 9.11 pack installs automatically without issue. It's why I wish they had an archive of old Mobility packages.

I tried the 12.6 Beta Legacy pack on the HD 3850. It seems to work fine with SupCom2 anyway. Of course they haven't fixed Skyrim. I suppose that is simply not going to happen.

Default Windows 8 & Legacy cards

I wonder what happens with Windows 8 and legacy cards. Will the legacy driver at some point begin supporting Win8, so we can have OpenGL, or will Win8 stay on drivers supplied by Windows Update (without OpenGL, and possibly on a schedule different from the legacy releases).
I know the legacy driver should work in Win8, as it still supports WDDM1.1., but maybe there is a difference between that driver and the Win8 inbox driver.

Oh well.. back to 12.4
Go to "Pixel format" under the tab "my digital flat panels". Change to RGB 4:4:4 mapping. You are more than likely using HDMI to HDMI.

Yes the GPU is decoding the H.264 stream but it is not helping display the video (software rendering). I think the rendering is just accelerated video scaling.

So can a 6950 not do hardware rendering in a window ?

Seems to be same on HD6870.

But it's not just about windowed mode, as MPCHC for example does hardware rendering in windowed mode too.
