For starters I will outline my current connections setup.
PS3 HDMI out to HDMI in back of TV. Fiber optic audio out of TV to receiver. Up until now I have had use of 5.1 speaker setup. 2 front, centre,2 rear plus seperate powered sub from receiver. I have the PS3 sound settings set to dolby digital 5.1 which it defaults to Now due to changing my room I can only use the 2 front, centre and sub. I noticed I get sound directional sound loss in some games like Bulletstorm for example when a conversation is going on behind you. It's like an on off switch. Was wondering how to readjust sound settings. Should I set to Linear PCM in Ps3 sound settings? Also my TV has the option to output sound as Dolby digital or PCM. Which would I choose? Thanks. |

Can you tell the receiver you don't have the rear speakers so it can do something else with their sound?

That's what I would do on my receiver as well, tell it which are connected and let the receiver deal with it.
