Hardtecs4u reports that GTX 680/670 can switch with a newer driver to reduced memory clocks, even if these displays are different.
The former implementation allowed that only with equal displays and timings, to plan the memory clock switch in a synchronized VBlank. Also Nvidia confirmed this new behavior on Kepler. The result is a card-only consumption of 23W, instead of 47W with old behavior. It would be interesting to know, how they solved this problem. |

Given that I can't read german and google translate hurts my brain I can only presume from a quick read.
I would gather that it adjusts the timings to each output medium? What would be interesting then is doing a 3 monitor and seeing the idle state. What is awesome though is that the memory clocks are still reduced regardless. |
