I threw $35 at Grim Dawn a few days ago. I loved Titan Quest and GD looks great. Its visuals make Diablo 3 look like something from 2006. Multiple skill trees, rotating camera, destructible environments, visceral combat, etc.

I posted in the general discusion forum but

Banner saga
zpocalypse
phonesoap
shadowrun retuns
wasteland 2

and just did 50 for sushiquick don't think this will hit its goal.

Its a cool site , my gf has pledge to a few projects also. I was able to meet with the zpocalypse guys at pax east and they seemed really cool. Hopefully it gets alot of projects that would otherwise not see a return .

Some stuff like pebble watch (my gf pledge to this ) are really high tech , i dunno if i could pledge that much to a project but at least they have working prototypes.

More old (adventure) game designers throwing their hat into the Kickstarter ring:

Two Guys from Andromeda (Space Quest) wants to make a new SpaceVenture, and currently sits at $157K on a $500K goal with 27 days to go.
Chris Jones & Aaron Conners is looking to bring back Tex Murphy with "Project Fedora". They have $100K out of a $450K target with 31 days on the clock.

Not only that, but with the recent Diablo server fiasco, it's nice to see developers taking the no-DRM approach for a game in the genre.

I jumped in as well. There's less than two days left now and the next stretch goals will allow the developers to add some additional weapons, another end-game boss and a new faction with their own sidequest line.
I recommend everyone who loves ARPGs to chip in. Unlike most Kickstarter projects, these guys already have the game engine locked in, and they seem to be heavily involved with the community. There's a new gameplay video on their KS page:

I backed quite a few projects, started to save on other things to be able to pay for all of it .

The most amount I have pledged is for Shadowrun Returns...

All games I have pledged for (http://www.kickstarter.com/profile/1060910165) have been funded except http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...s-of-eisenwald which is still running...

Kickstarter and the whole crowdsourcing of games sound really nice at this point but what happens when the first game is published and it doesn't meet the "requirements" of a remake?

Gamers hate changes, as we've previously seen for example with Fallout 3. The gamers want the same old same and when someone does something differently, the forums are filled with rage. I'm scared to see what will happen when the remakes turn out to be modern games and not just 100% copies of the original classics.

Progress doesn't automatically mean improvement. That "same old" is better in every way, even in aesthetical. FO1/2's 2D artwork >>> plasticky FO3 environment.

The writing of Brian Mitsoda with Fallout atmosphere, turn based combat and lots of dialogue! Anyone wants to chip in?

Wow, I remember that. They've been working on it for awhile now but I guess it's a spare time thing.

The pledges are going nicely up and great to see that so many stretch goals are met... Will probably up my pledge minimally... But I should hit myself with a stick when I even look at my credit card .

Anyone has something new to up the credit card debt? I mean, we need to spend to get the economy going, right?

Does anyone has something else to recommend?

Cheers...

Just noticed this "unusual" project from Deano Calver, formerly lead programmer on Brink and Heavenly Sword and frequent (if not recently) B3D poster. Also With a B3D-related plug in an update.

Not games related, but with https://twitter.com/DeanoC/status/264669429479133184 in mind it is very much relevant: http://hackaday.com/2012/11/01/hacka...tarter-policy/

This and many more things that, I think, will ultimately mean this project won't reach its goal. Backed it because you're a cool dude, Deano. How many people know that you are though?

Thanks, yeah its the hardest nut to crack and one that I don't have a good idea about. Some Indies manage to do it but whatever the secret sauce is, I don't think I have it unfortunately *sigh*

It really seems to rely on push, push, push by both the creator (in this case me) and the people who like/know them. I'm not very comfortable being pushy to be honest, hence not even making a new post here, even though it probably okay.
I've just done some emails to major websites but would appreciate any help or advise or just spam mailing major website (don't do that please, just the first 100 emails is fine :P)
What website would be interested?
How do I get my name and the games out there?

Or is it just not to be for me?

Still mustn't get too depressed too early, only just started to go on the advertising campaign I left it a few days to get some improvement done. Just added inspiration and more info on the game.

While I would like to play an updated Elite, that project page is just too bloody lazy to warrant any support. Would anyone make a pitch looking like that for £1,250,000 anywhere else and have a snowballs chance in hell to get the funding? I think not.

@DeanoC: The secret sauce seems to be this:
- build support for you project BEFORE you launch on KS (post a blog, do some POC work and share it on your blog, etc.)
- be humble and don't launch with stretch goals (but have those ready if you approach your target)
- invest in graphics: it's important for your KS page to look interesting; poser characters IMO don't cut it
- invest in good video: it's a sales pitch, make it look good
But, yeah, that's what I would do if I were to launch. Also: your project seems fairly niche. You should start with some built support from communities which needs are being addressed by this project. I don't think your target is a typical gamer.

Also: if you fail the first time, try with another project and roll supporters from the firs one in.

Happy New Year to everyone...

Found an strange one (in a good way) I wanted to support:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...the-universe-0

Game description:

Quote:
I blended classic Zelda and dark science fiction and drank the ensuing mixture. It was Radio the Universe.

Players will feel aesthetic and gameplay influences from titles like Yume Nikki, Symphony of the Night, Hotline Miami, and Dark Souls, with a tinge of 2D JRPGs thrown into the mix.

RtU is a challenging and atmospheric sci-fi game with SNES-style visuals and a sinister, offbeat narrative.
Loved this quote:

Quote:
thus despite all of the cynical advice i received on how to "market" this project, i suspect that the most potent advertising tool of an already cynical, loud, and media-saturated 2012 internet is people's intelligences being respected.
Cheers...
