How many folks here remember having to put disclaimers on the thread titles for large images, because broadband wasn't widespread.
Or when the first Voodoo cards hit and the boards here were ablaze? Let alone any tech from 3Df/x Or the threads on the Bitboys Glaze 3D chip with it's embedded RAM. Man, I think I've been on these boards since forever (granted I don't remember my original handle on here) it seems. Though I was dual bagging handles between this one and everyone's favorite: diarrhea_splatter. Anyone else feel the nostalgia of the Beyond 3D boards?

Go back into the archives to around 2003 or so... Check out the names of all the people who are no longer active here.
Where did they all go, and why?

Some are still here, but more in a lurking mode, and some others are too busy working on their current projects to even lurk.

I think I've been fairly active at B3D since 98 or 99.

Not exactly, but it was around before B3D:
http://forum.beyond3d.com/showthread.php?t=2094 Kinda disturbing that the above thread is almost ten years old! I seem to be getting old...

Same here for a bit. I was so disappointed when I saw that Voodoo Extreme has a dot IGN in front of it now. I still go to Bluesnews.

I've been here since 2000ish. My previous account locked me out (password started being wrong one day) and was merged with this account somehow. I moved here from 3dgpu.com which was previously nv10.net (the first "geforce" chip). I found that site from the back of a magazine in '99, when I had to use the internet at college as I didn't have a connection at home. The internet was £1 / 5mins for personal use, but I was so poor I couldnt afford it. I used to be able to get on for 15 mins after everyone had gone home, if I helped the librarian clean up the library at the end of the day. Thus was my love affair with the net born. I moved out of my parents house when I was 18 and still in college, just to get a net connection (they were against it at the time). So, B3D has a special place in my heart as being (probably) the longest running site I've visited, ever.
My fondest memory back then was of the KYRO II, which was the little card that could(nt do TnL). |

You guys are the reason I dropped 80.000 drachmas for that voodoo monster, (or was it Voodoo II, I cant remember)
Used to lurk back then, until curiosity got the best of me, and at some point, I decided to learn what that RPSC thread I kept hearing was about.

This site is the reason I went from a Voodoo 2 to a Kyro II.

Same here. Fond memories; Paired with an overclocked Celeron-A it would beat Geforce 2 in most games.
Cheers

Back in the day I replaced the clock crystal on a PowerVR PCX1 board...that was overclocking.
