Default Oh RAMBUS, where art thou?

Hynix, Micron Prevail as Jury Delivers Another Defeat to Rambus

With loss and plummeting stock prices, Rambus's 1,000 patents could make it an attractive acquisition target.

Quote:
In a critical ruling, a San Francisco court jury rejected claims made by Rambus, Inc. (RMBS) against Micron Technology, Inc. (MU) and Hynix Semiconductor Inc. (KS:000660). The loss sent Rambus share prices plummeting and called into question the future of the hardware maker, which many claim is a so-called "patent-troll".

Rambus is a shell of its former self. Nobody cares anymore.

Do they have any ongoing R&D at that place anymore? They've not released a new paper product in ages now.

They seem to be just a licensing company and the only papers they release are patent bills or lawsuits.

Not really XDR and XDR2 are good products. So is FlexIO just cause they are patent trolling bastards doesn't mean it would be better for everyone if they died.

None of their developed tech would go away if their lawyers all fell over dead. Someone (hopefully someone useful) would buy their IP.

As for XDR2 it remains to be seen if it's a good product. It sounds impressive, but that's only on paper to date.

U.S. government invalidates potent Rambus patent
Quote:
The three patents - collectively known as the Barth patents - pertain to memory chips used in personal computers and are considered to be among Rambus' most valuable intellectual property.

An appeals board at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office declared the patent invalid on January 24, according to a ruling posted on their website. The previous two were declared invalid in September.

The invalidation is more bad news for Rambus, whose stock shed 60 percent of its value in the weeks after a November 16 court decision in which it lost a $4 billion antitrust lawsuit against Micron Technology Inc (MU.O) and Hynix Semiconductor Inc

Your right, Patent trolling shits that they are..we dont want them dead, if they put the same effort into getting their brilliant tech into products as they do with that litagation then they will be onto a winner.

Maybe we will see them in next gen consoles...(*crosses fingers* please please please)

Anyone got any info of why exactly their patents got invalidated, prior art maybe?
