![]() Google and Sony apparently have a nice relationship and now with Google-Tv on the way, Sony was the first to jump on the wagon of the new business. But wait! What is this little logo that keeps poping up? ![]() Why on earth did not Sony use Cell for this. It should have been a perfect use for the Hybrid that they and IBM made. CELL isn't "WEB optimized" or where there concerns about power and heat? I don't know but I think it's a missed opportunity. |

Assuming one of Intel's recent consumer electronics chips, CE4xxx and the like, are being referenced by that "intel inside", Sony wouldn't use anything else in its place because the PowerVR IP included within delivers more performance for a given area/power/heat.

You're right. It actually is the Intel® Atom™ processor CE4100.
http://newsroom.intel.com/community/...1533-c1-260080 With extreme capabilities for its product line http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/24/i...able-boxes-an/ But i don't see that as a good thing. Atom is Atom after all and using a "rival" product when you can make good use of one of your own (http://www.pcworld.com/article/17309...om_ce4100.html), doesn't make sense to me The only thing in favour of the CE4100 is that it's a SoC, but on the other hand the Cell can act as one. What am i missing? |

Lazy8s, what is the PowerVR IP you're referring to ? May be good bedtime reading.

Intel Atom CE4100 uses SGX535 clocked at 200 or 400MHz depending on SKU.
