If the rumors are true, MS would surprise me - they haven't done much for the 360s success lately. The price cut was almost too late, but with a couple more interesting exclusive games it could go a long way.

Microsoft has confirmed that the Xbox 360 is to receive a price cut in Europe, with the Arcade unit now selling for GBP 129.99 / EUR 179.99.

The new price points come into effect September 19, with the Premium unit complete with 60GB hard drive selling for 169.99 / EUR 239.99 and the Xbox 360 Elite for GBP 229.99 / EUR 299.99.

That's a damn good price. I think Sony are going to be in trouble this Christmas if they aren't planning any price cuts.

Yes, impressive pricing for Europe! They actually went below the dollar-to-euro this time, very agressive! I wish they released a motion controller - combined with XNA that would be ace. If things work out with the new dash and it works properly with HDMI, I might even consider replacing my Premium.

It's very interesting to see if their strategy pays off. Right now it's still very expensive once you figure in all the extra costs, but the price of entry is getting better and better and I'm sure a lot of people won't (figure in the extras).

Hopefully Sony follows suit! At 299, the PS3 should be able to keep its pace, 349 would be pushing it, 399 during this Christmas I think would be an irresponsible gamble for Sony.

This will bring the prices down to 149/199/249 Euros.

Futureshop is selling the arcade (@$199) and pro (60GB@ $299) units in Canada with a Gears of War and Star Wars: The force unleashed bundle.
