Default 6970/50 AF quality - what's the verdict?

I've not been able to buy a 6970 myself yet - my PC monger didn't receive any boards this week, so I can't check myself.

Have any comprehensive studies been performed yet? I'm very curious if the shimmering has finally been conquered or not...

Also, what about GPGPU performance? For folding, AMD chips have been vastly inferior to their nvidia counterparts for whatever reason, this both for CAL/Stream and OpenCL clients. Is cayman doing any better here?

I duno if this is related or a bug but testing Company...i noticed the IQ is worse off...felt a little muddy filter has been overlaid... The default QUALITY settings gave me visible transiting line, above it are missing objects/shadows (sort like LOD popping in), and shimmering of the ground as bad as PS2.....turning to HIGH QUALITY, the missing objects are back and shimmering is greatly reduced...but the line is still visible and shadows still pop in and out...attached a ss for viewing...

Scratch what i said above.....except the transiting line and shadows...
Disappearing objects = i messed around with the model detail settings (aka LOD), at full, objects dont pop in/out.
HIGH vs QUALITY = does not seem to make a difference...both settings still shimmers at certain camera angles....ran 3DM11... and with HIGH...i lost 15 points....

guess its about being anal...to start analyzing things after a new purchase..and seeing things you thought arent there..but were there...just not been anal enough....I did discovered a bug with flash acceleration...with youtube opened in IE...Cayman would not go higher than 500/1250 (aka hdvideo acceleration mode)....even if a DX10 game is running....

Huh, 5770 here and I noticed that when I had a video file on pause that 3dmark 2011 ran at the lowered speeds of viewing videos.

Never did something like that before so I have no idea if its related to newer drivers.
