Default Help needed.

I am going upgrade as my current PC as it is getting old. My current PC has an ATI 9700pro AGP card. My new system will have PCI-e. I dont want to waste alot of £££ on a graphic card until the R600 comes out. Could you tell what current ATI PCI-e card is equivalent to the 9700pro.

Thanks

You could probably pick just about any PCI-E card that isn't turbocache or whatever it's called and be fine. You just need something to tide you over til R600 anyways, no?

I'd recommend one of the X800's (vanilla, XL, GT) or X1600XT. An X700 pro might be decent too but it wasn't too popular and I can't remember how it did. Anything else is either too slow or too expensive to match your criteria. Don't touch anything in the X300 or X1300 range.

an X1600pro 256MB would be equivalent and it's come not far from $/€ 100.

It has half the bandwidth of the 9700 though. So if he likes his AA in older DX8 or DX9 titles he'll be disappointed.

best bang for the buck is 7300GT with DDR3 memory - 100$, clockable with stock cooler up to 600/1700 :P
Its not ATi?
So what?

Temped to get the 256MB ATI 1900GT for £145. I thought the 1800XT was ment to be cheaper and faster than the 1900GT, cant find one under £200 any where.
