Could x360 be programmed to use Open GL?

or is it confined to DirectX? Would there be a benefit or better efficiency by going a non directx route?

Sorry bj, it was actually a very stupid question. DirectX HLSL (once the features have been decided upon) is completely inflexible & static unlike OpenGL through the various ARB extensions. Also, MS completely owns DX & helps construct & decides on what will or will not be included (w/the input of various graphics vendors) in the final library.

Actually its confined to its own Api... It has something based on directx but its a specifc-made-for-360 one.

So devs would have to use those libraries/api's? Interesting. so if you are OPenGL dev house you would probably just run with PS3...
