Which linux distribution has a built in driver for geforce 6800 GT?
I want to have a graphical installation with being able to pick up the card from the list of built in supported cards. I tried suse and the newest card in list there was 5950 Ultra, so I had to choose vesa graphics and my head is still hurting from trying to configure the pos of an os in 60Hz refresh rate. I even had nvidia driver pre downloaded through windows, and was able to follow the instructions for installing the driver, in the end it asked me to start XsA2 which I did... and still... no 6800 in the list! It would help, if the distribution has a built in support for PPTP VPN connections so I would be able to connect to internet. Why don't any linux distribution tell their supported hardware btw? What do they want me to do? Just download every multi GB distribution and try them out one by one? Hell of a lot of work just to play enemy territory and doom3. and to get 85Hz first of all |

well, I have no idea what was going on but the suse seemed to be a no go. nothing worked, no internet, no graphics.
Fedora core 3, after quite several hours of configuring and 4 reistalls, seems to work now. doom3, enemy territory works... trying to install anarchy online now. Life is good. No warez on my computer now, none whatsoever! |
