Perhaps. I believe Nvidia still has headroom with GK110 though, should they need to react to a new high-end card launched by AMD before Maxwell is ready. Titan has a 250W TDP with 14 out of 15 SMX...

That's only one metric, and not nearly a complete picture of the performance of either card at that. I think Anandtech states it nicely:

No one is arguing about the value of this card...

I don't, not yet anyway. Otherwise I would've gotten a Titan 3 months ago and called it done. I'm not made of money. Most 4k TVs go for $15 grand and up. I'm looking at those super-cheap Chinese...

I'm such a sucker... I guess my price threshold wasn't as high as I thought because I ordered an EVGA Superclocked 780 as soon as I found out it supports 4k. Time to water cool that bad boy and see...

I wouldn't be shocked by $599 or $699 prices, but I definitely won't be buying at $699 unless Nvidia wants to drop Titan prices down to that level. That being said, pre-release reseller prices are...

This is all speculative. Who knows when the 20nm process will be ready? Besides, if the next gen is worthwhile I'll buy that too. I'm looking for 4k support and better performance now, without...

I'm quite tempted by the 780, even as an overclocked 680 owner. For me though it all comes down to 2 things.

1) price
2) 4k support

If it's more than $599 I'm out and if it doesn't support 4k...

The extra TDP headroom could be to allow for some decent overclocking. I'm pretty sure GK110 with only 12SMX units enabled can hit a higher clockspeed than 837MHz...

Depends on whether the product is one that has been on the roadmap for quite some time or if it is a reaction to the lateness of TSMC's 28nm process. If the former, I would expect it to be a VLIW-4...
