Of course, AMD won't admit it but I believe the last few weeks...

disappointing launch

It's a disappointing launch. AMD loses ground with 69XX even as Nvidia is inching closer to it after Fermi debacle. But IMO it's somewhat expected.

Every few years both Nvidia and AMD have to pay...

I am sure the delay has something to do with GTX580 launch. May be AMD didn't expect GTX 580 to be available at the launch and hence thought that launching cayman early even without sufficient stock...

But in 4x0 bench, CPU is at 4.2Ghz and we know 3D Mark 06 is quite sensitive to CPU speed... though if true, idle temps are good and nowhere near what Charlie claimed.

The numbers seems plausible. They are in line with what everyone is saying: That GTX480 will end up slightly faster than HD5870 while GTX 470 will be a little faster than HD 5850.
