Trials: evolution. [xbla]

http://www.kotaku.com.au/2011/06/tri...hurt-yourself/

This is my game of E3. 100's hours of have been reserved.

My hype for other games is now properly deflated. :(

3-player action! Looks really nice, even if the gameplay clip is incredibly short.

RobertR1 07-Jun-2011 19:35

I expect this to be the best selling game on XBLA by the end of this generation.

kagemaru 07-Jun-2011 19:36

Will be there day one.

Acert93 08-Jun-2011 04:34

Seeing this pulled me out of retirement, knowing full well Robert would post about it and sebbbi would be kind enough to link :) Day 1 Minute 1 purchase -- thanks for adding MP! That is all I needed to hear to be sold on another $15 gem from RL.

rekator 08-Jun-2011 06:14

We want more gameplay video!!! ;)
Good work Sebbi!

aselto 08-Jun-2011 14:39

Why do the colors look wash out?
Anyway, day 1.

Those are old screenshots without color correction. Cinematic tonemapping slightly desaturates the darker colors, but this can be easily fixed with proper saturation ramp.

We have a system in place that allows our artists to apply any amount of filters to the image colors in Photoshop (gamma, hue, saturation, levels, etc, etc). Our tool then makes a 3d rgb volume texture based on the filters done in Photoshop. This lookup is applied in post process (one filtered lookup to the 3d texture per pixel). As our post process pass is ALU bound, this 3d volume texture sampling is basically free. So expect to see more saturated colors in the final game (and generally more natural human eye based color ramp).

Thanks for the pics, btw. Looks great. I'd like to see more gameplay vid to see that lighting and shadowing in action.

I loved the first game and this one looks even better, especially the local mp looks so much fun.

Great work on the graphics engine sebbi, the outdoors environments look awesome.

It's about freaking time! I was just thinking "where the heck is the gameplay footage of this" over the weekend when my buddies and I were playing Trials HD.

Thanks.

I CAN'T WAIT! The vids look fantastic. Track sharing sounds like it'll be a huge boost to the longevity of the game, in a game that is already massively playable.

September? :D please say yes

rekator 16-Aug-2011 08:31

Great work!! Cool local co-op. Lot of fun and laughing. :)

AlStrong 16-Aug-2011 08:57

Looking forward to the trial. ;)

Three more beginner/easy tracks in this video (but only 30 fps, and not HD):

Update - youtube video (has smoother frame rate):

Scott_Arm 17-Aug-2011 19:27

One thing I noticed in the gamersyde vid is it doesn't look like the bikes wheels are making contact with the track. Everything else looks awesome!

RobertR1 17-Aug-2011 22:03

Nice work Sebbi and team. Day 1 without a doubt.

Wonderfull!!!

The type of camera action now reminds me of that old 2.5D platformer Pandemonium. :) Also, it gives me the impression that you've been toying around with 3D displays ... ;)

aselto 25-Aug-2011 11:38

At first I was "where are all the improvements sebbbi talked about?", but then I scrutinized the backgrounds and was really impressed by all the detail. Multiplayer mode is the more essential part of this sequel, nonetheless great job on the graphics!
