Model of Honour is finally out in the UK today - is it really 'all that'? Should I be going out at lunch and parting with some cash for it?

Definitely. Best FPS ever for me.
No direct benchmarking however (but there's a fps counter) altho' I already have a way to benchmark it (again, not directly and using FRAPS too). I'll be using my method for future reviews.

It is definitely worth it. I would say its one of the 2 best shooters released in the last 12 months (Undying would be the other).
Still, it didnt have the impact on me that Half-life or Halo did.

I have mixed feelings about it.
on one point, compared to games like Quake and halflife, its amazing, kills Halo and the likes. In that respect I LOVE it, its amazing.
then again, I had kind of put it in a class with Hidden and Dangerous/Rogue Spear , which was a wrong assumption, which actually left me let down, I personally think Hidden and Dangerous 2 is going to be by far the better game(for me at least), but, Allied Assault is awesome none the less.
one word to the wise, get it for PC, do NOT touch it for any console when it comes, my reasoning for that? this game in several maps requires pixel perfect sniping and crisp clear images of a computer monitor(for instance, the snipers last stand, you have to pick out snipers from behind trees, in windows across the map(barely can even see them even with the monitor), and they KNOW where you are always, you have to pull the ole, strafe and pop a real quick perfect shot to get through, this can ONLY be done on a mouse and keyboard).
when this game comes to GC, Xbox and PS2 later this year, its going to be so dumbed down its not even funny.
MOH changed my life for the time being. I started spending less time in the gym just to play this game and I also spent a couple hundred dollars on pc upgrades. I think this is the best thing that happened to FPS since Half Life. We'll see what Soldier of Fortune 2 will offer. This quake 3 engine is becoming very popular.

OK, so I've played through the first 'mission' now and I have to say its one of the most varied and entertaining FPS's I've played in a long while!
