Ive posted in several places about having b3d partner with amazon and other online bookstores. Why? Because im tired of having to disable some of the ads here on b3d.

Look I buy several hundred dollars in books (usually from amazon), id love to see a part of that go to this place. :) And Im sure that others here do too.Maybe the revenue could increase enough for added features, more bandwith, trips to lectures/launches, book reviews, more staff ...

Its just a thought,
I looked over at amazon.com and found the following links:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/browse.html/ref=gw_bt_as/104-5004059-3479117?node=3435371
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/subst/partners/direct/direct-application.html/ref=gw_bt_ad/104-5004059-3479117
http://s1.amazon.com/exec/varzea/subst/fx/home.html/ref=gw_bt_hs/104-5004059-3479117

The first link I think is what you want. It states that up to 15% of sales generated would go to you (b3d).

As long as it can be localised (eg, in Blighty, www.amazon.co.uk ) then I would definitely support it

I don't see why B3D wouldn't consider it. Seems win-win, provided it's as easy to implement in Europe (where Dave is) as it seems to be in the U.S.

I've no idea, mate. I'm not from the UK :D

Anyway, back on topic: I only quickly skimmed through the link but those terms don't seem too onerous. What do you think Dave?

It's actually very easy to setup with Amazon. I've got some Amazon links on my site. The only thing you need is an account number. Then just put the account number in your link to Amazon and they detect that the visitor came from you. There would be no cost to B3D or the buyer, only gain for B3D.

Exactly why I suggested it.:) If the gain is good enough, we might have an ad-free site, now that would be cool.

Apart from the ones for Amazon, of course.

Just pm dave and tell him to look at the thread, chances are he doesn't even know it exists.

I'll have a look at it. I suspect that it will not consistently earn enough for it to replace ads though. The other thing is whether the Amamzon code will be able to derive the correct locale or if we'd have to knock up our own code for it.
