I just had to pass this along...
My 2-year-old MacBook Pro has become the best R&D computer I've owned.

With 8 GB of RAM I can run VMs as needed.

With EasyDraw I can create drawings for technical publication that are much easier to understand than my CAD files.

With OmniGraph Sketcher I can create gorgeous and oversimplified graphs to get points across more easily.

I can't speak highly enough of these two apps for scientific presentations/publications.

With SciLab, Sage and Octave I have Matlab and then some.

With Gimp and Pixelmator I have all manner of image processing.

Sorry to pine so pathetically, but in 27 years of doing technical presentation and publications I've never had a rig so competent for that purpose and so easy to use. What's more is that, other than Office, all the software I use can be had for under $100, total.

anyways...

One of the key things is the Apple App Store. I would have never found EasyDraw or OmniGraph Sketcher without it.

So, there's no similar programs for Windows or Linux, you have to have a Mac to get them?
