View Full Version : Micron enters graphics memory business
Yes and no, notice for now they just want to sell their DDR3 to GPU manufacturers; for now they don't have GDDR3 or GDDR5. DDR3 is seemingly cheaper and lower power than GDDR3, so there's definitely a very real market for that in the low-end; they claim they're targeting the mid-range, but I think that's just marketing.
Depends on whose definition of each market segment is being used. IIRC ATi's 46xx range supports DDR3.
Actually the entire HD 4000 Series product range can support DDR3. As pointed out on Fudzilla there is already a Mobility Radeon HD 4850 available with DDR3.
