I'm not sure what the deal is. Every time I try to connect to a server, I get "wrong version".

I've updated my BF1942 to the latest version (1.31?)
I've installed the latest version of Desert Combat (.35e)

Whazzup with that?

The newest BF1942 patch (1.4 or something like that) was making the rounds it was un-offically leaked but so EA does not seem to mine...could that be it???

Apparently I needed 1.31, not just 1.3. Sigh.

Anyways, I'm not happily getting my arse splattered by blackhawks.

I don't have a good joystick right now (*embarassing*). Flying any helicopter is pretty much suicide with the ol' keyboard.

The couple of maps dominated by copters make for a boring battle when you're the guy on the ground getting his butt handed to him...

Any suggestions for a good joysticks for DC/BF1942 type flying?

I went to my first big lan party last week, and DC was the 'big game' being played(Vietcong also). The dude next to me was the designated Apache pilot for our team, and had those expensive dual flight sim joysticks mounted to upside down home speaker boxes, one on each side of him. He was sitting in a beanbag chair and kicking ass. He killed me accidently a couple times though during his carpet bombings. This game is the funnest thing I have ever done on a pc....period.

While this thread is already started, I would like to ask a related question about this game. When I play single player(practice) against bots, I suffer some horrible framerate problems on some maps, usually when all hell is breaking loose in the game. I have a 9500Pro, Athlon 2100+, 768mb DDR266, and no AA or AF on in driver settings. The game settings are on medium graphics wise and 1024x768 resolution. Before I started playing this, there wasnt a single game in my arsenal that would bog my computer. Any advice?

Have you tried changing the settings in the sound section? l remember it has helped some people, though I don't know if they went the hardware or software route for sounds.

The bots eat cpu like my crazy friend eats maple flavored chex cereal.

I absolutely love this game in multiplayer. I've been practicing helicopter non stop and although I'm alright at the apache's I'm absolutely a fiend in the blackhawks. I can now hover inches above the ground and do a drop off at high speeds and get my ass outta there in seconds. My friends say it remind them of Vietnam movies when I do it.

As for a good stick for flying I actually use a Logitech wingman dual shock. Its got throttle control, dual sticks for good chopper flying and lots of buttons for firing, yelling commands to people in your chopper ("bail out motherfuckers!") , and switching positions in the planes.

Hehe, well I don't use a joystick at all for BF1942 or the DC mod and I can fly plenty well (practice makes perfect) I do use a joystick (Wingman Extreme 3D) for CFS 4 and X-Wing Alliance though. Seems that the joystick hurts my response and feel in BF1942 :?

P.S. as was said above, the new 1.4 patch pretty much brakes all of the mods out there, but it sound like the mod makers (DC, Merciless, ect..) will have their stuff sorted out pretty soon. Sounds like we'll get some extra toys in DC when they release their patch too! :P

I havent fooled with the sound settings, I'll give that a try. Thanks for the input :D
I have an inexpensive Phillips surround card.
