While a few years ago, after the EU (re)union, those goods were quite cheap, that has changed quite a bit. From a simple piece of wood, through materials like screws and plaster, to machinery: the price has gone up again.
It's not as if all those things have become expensive as a whole, the expensive stuff is still getting cheaper, but the price of the very cheap stuff has gone up severely. A simple, single piece doorknob, a wooden leg end, even a rubber door stopper, they all start at about 5 Euro apiece.
Is that simply stupid bean counters at the top, or is there a realistic reason for that?
