This bridge was lifted into place with the largest portable crane in the world (lift capacity of 2600 tons). I went down to New Haven (in Conn. near Yale University) to watch the pick. It was quiet the sight, and went off without a hitch.

Its not offen anyone gets to see something this large in person. This is the type of work I do ( My company bid on this work but we came in forth out of nine bidders).

I guess it can come down to the definition of portable but here's a crane that can lift up to 8700 tons. It was used when building the Öresundsbridge between Malmö sweden and Copenhagen Denmark
