Well, I know everyone has already heard about this, but it is finally open. I really need to buy some stuff there.

If you don't like DRM vote with your wallet and get some mp3's without restrictions at a higher bit rate than itunes...

I am too freaking busy though to go thru the catalog and see which bands that I like they have... arg

There you go.

Hell yes!

I just bought one, even better you don't need some BS installer/downloader. Just buy and download if you want Woot!

This is seriously what I have been waiting for forever, legal, wide selection (unlike poor e-music), buy just one song, not some stupid points or 60 songs at a time. No stupid downloader or other program...I will need to control my buying impulse so I don't waste tons of cash.

Oh and they are 89 cents...

Maybe I should have put this in general discussion. I hope people actually buy them now.

I agree 100%! This is completely the way it should be. Absolutely love it.

Except for one thing:

- requires a US address. Can't use this yet over here, which is too bad.

Still I'm hoping this will become the norm for buying music online and make it over to Europe soon, because me (and my wife I might add) are certain to use it.

Right now, we aren't using any service, because, well, they all suck.

I have to admit I was wrong though, songs are not all 89 cents, some are and some are 99 cents, but they definitely sound better than the regular 128kbs mp3. I only have downloaded two songs so far though, but it really does work the way it should.

Some are even only 0.79 cents. I guess it really depends on the label, etc. Anyway, kudos to Amazon for doing away with the whole DRM mumbo-jumbo and deliver a more consumer friendly environment.

Hopefully, this will be available soon over here as well.

I want something that's CD quality and either lossless compressed or uncompressed, so that I can re-encode it myself according to my own needs for the moment.

Otherwise I miht as well buy the CD and rip it..

Peace.

It'll be interesting to see what the prices are when they do appear over here. Will they be $0.99 * (£1.00/$2.04) = £0.48 + VAT = £0.58, or will they be £0.99 due to the additional costs of distribution over ... erm, the different type of Internet we have here in Europe?

One of the reasons why I am still sticking to CDs. Unfortunately for us both, the only online stores that sell lossless formats such as FLAC are the illegal / dodgy Russian ones. :???:
