It seemed like the Motorstorm 1.2 update was available to EU gamers first. However, I think the update has gone global along with the online expansion pack. Simply update by starting online mode or downloading the expansion pack from the PSN Store.

From what I read the 1.2 patch is out, but nothing on the store yet. Reports are that loading times are better too.

The expansion is in the store, both the JP and US stores.

Thanks. I think I get back to playing MS again, I put it on hold for the patch and it is a great game.

I hit up the store first to download the time attack thing, and then the when starting the game my resolution would switch and the screen would stay black with the PS3 going completly unreponsive. After shutting it off by the power button and trying again only to reach the same results, I found I had to delete the 1.1 update to get the game working again. I'm downloading the updates now and hopefully all will stay welll now.

I thinks the disclaimer for the new mode in the Store tells you that you need to download the 1.2 update from inside Motorstorm, before downloading the mot from the Store.

I think morlock's hint is correct. In order to use the time attack mode, the 1.2 patch must be downloaded. I didn't have to uninstall the 1.1 patch (firstly because I didn't know how), and simply followed the instructions.

The new time attack mode seems to be helpful more than fun. Helpful because it tells you how the really good players actually play, where they go, and in general how they tackled the course. I was hoping the ghosts I downloaded would actually show me where they boosted and for how long, but they don't.

Yeah, needing to get the new update first is mention near the bottom of the bigger description after you select the item, but it isn't mentioned at all in the smaller description when browsing the store and that is all I bothered to read before downloading it. Regardless, after deleting the 1.1 patch and the redownloading the time trial addon it seems I'm up to date.

Unfortunately, now with this new update, every time I try to mute my mic I get kicked clear back to the XMB. :(

So, any confirmation on load times?

So, any confirmation on load times?

Not from me, just the typical Internet chatter.

Edit: I noticed no speed up in loading in the one race I tried, wishful thinking I think.

kyleb, do you have a 20Gb or a 60Gb ?

kyleb

20GB, but pretty sure the game doesn't use the HDD for anything but saving. At least I don't recall seeing the light flashing any other time.

Ok... I own a 20Gb too, just want to make sure it's not because of the HDD. I will get the game tomorrow. See you guys online !

I use the 60GB version and can say safely there is no (or not noticeable) effect on loading.

I've got the 60Gb version and to be honest I haven't noticed any percepatble change in loading times. Doesn't matter though, still looks and plays like a dream (especially on the hdtv!)

fwiw, i heard the load times at the vehicle selection screen has been improved, not the load times in general.

Now that we're here, I just wanted to say that this game holds up really, really well. I guess it's even more striking to me now that Dirt is out, which was the first game that could have seriously challenged it for me. For now, it's still one of the finest online racing games, especially with it's 12 player support and awesome physics (Dirt is really a let-down in that respect) and alternate routes and different vehicle types.

GT5 Prologue will probably be the first game that can challenge it in that respect, although of course they are very different experiences.

It really is a great game - and perfectly balanced. Just a shame they didn't pack it with content - including the time attack, eliminator etc from the beginning. Here's to having to pay for content tomorrow.

Well to be fair though the time attack was a free update. ;)

True :)

I never got the complaints about not enough tracks though. It would be nice to have more of course, but they are beasts of tracks - and are completely different depending on which vehicle you use. Though I do wish they would have held a few back for each Level. I'm only Level 3, but I think all of the tracks have already been shown to me, and I want there to be more in order to motivate me to want to do Level 4.

The one thing that pretty much breaks the game for me, is the fact there's no split screen option for two players. I have absolutely no desire whatsoever to play online, playing side by side with a friend (and perhaps few beers) is what racing games are all about.

Looks like the 3.1 update is out now. I haven't played this game for months but might just dust it off and try out the mirrors.

I just upgraded this morning too. Have not gotten around to play it yet. I really like how Sony refreshes my games to make them keep up with time.

I guess the mirror mode is only available as an option in online matches, as I couldn't find any way to do it in SP mode. Shame really, while I appalud the effort to keep their OL fresh, I don't understand why they wouldn't incorporate it into the SP. In order to enjoy the mirrors, you have to race against god's and legends and sit through the long wait of setting up matches in the lobby. Sigh..

haven't got it yet, but i was assuming you could do the single player tickets mirrored... i'll download and see, if not hopefully next patch :P
