Yeah it has some nice graphics but that mining really is boring the othter things to make money and improve your ships etc. don't seem much different............. Interaction besides the chatting is zero....... so that is a big miss to.

The universe is so big it wil take you 15 years to visit all places........if u didn't die of bordom in the mean time...... :D

Nice try but it won't be on my christmass list

I got into the beta test as well. We probably shouldn't be talking about the game in public forums like this, but you should listen to what the other people in this thread have said. I wonder how much longer until the NDA gets lifted?

NDA has been lifted this morning, so I'll give my shpiel.

Eve has the potential to be a pretty good game, but I think there is a pretty good chance it will flop. For the most part they cater to corperations (especially larger ones) and if you only play occasionally as a solo player it's pretty tough to get anywhere. Hopefully that will change by release, but in the beta it's slow going. This is going to a problem for them, because it's not the hardcore uber-corps that will be lining their pockets, but the average gamer who wants to play, but doesn't have the time and resources to mine for large periods of time in hostile space.

There are a number of things you can do in the game to make money, from mining, to trading, to research, to industry. Starting out really the two options to make money are mining or trading, and trading needs some starting capital. Trading also requires some work. I started importing survey scanners to the starting galaxy and made good money, but it was about 11 jumps each way and took about an hour to do. Eventually, both trading and mining get pretty tedious in this game. They've recently upped the number of pirates in the asteroid fields (probably to help alleviate the bordem somewhat) but it also makes it much harder to mine good ores on your own (without being in a corp). Most people I know who mine on their own now only do so in safe sectors, and read a book or surf the web while waiting for their hold to fill up with ore.

The next problem imho is that they don't have enough rewards to keep you interested. In the beta, there were 4-5 smaller class ships (frigates) per race, 1 cargo ship (industrial), and 1 larger ship (cruiser). Eventually battleships will be added as well. There are a number of different weapons/parts you can get, but after the initial interest, most of them are kinda... boring. If you've ever played diabloII, you know the massive amount of items, literally thousands that exist. In eve, after you rule out skills, tradegoods, and blueprints (not ship upgrades), there are maybe 100 to 120 items you can buy to upgrade your ship. That may seem like a lot, but consider that it's broken down into 8-9 categories (hull/armor, turrets, drones, etc), and 30 or so of those are just different kinds of ammo with slightly different properties. Perhaps they'll add more stuff before the game launches (right now a lot of stuff has "1" tagged on the end implying there might be "2"s or "3"s), but as of now they haven't had any in the beta.

Over all, I'd say the biggest downside to this game is that after playing it for a little while, I'm left with the feeling of "what's the point?". In most MMORPG's, you want to fight stuff, and by fighting stuff, you gain experience and prizes (or cash for prizes) to go fight bigger stuff to get more stuff, so that you can be the biggest badass around. In eve, you mine, or trade stuff, and make money to buy a ship to... mine more stuff, or trade more stuff. You can fight pirates, but atleast right now it ends up costing more in repairs and ammo than what you make back. Neither fighting, mining, or trading improves your skills at all.

I should probably end this post because I could go on and on, if you guys are interested I can post more of my thoughts on it later. Overall though, I'd say this game is not worth the $50 investment plus $12.95 per month they want to charge for it. It takes too long to succeed, it's kinda boring, and it's still pretty buggy. Your mileage may vary.

Played it again and indeed it's much tougher on the astroids with the good stuff :(

I read your post and came to to same conclusion.

Indeed There is u huge potential but I think that will never be exploited to bad do. What I also miss greatly is the interaction or better lack off it.......

Why do I need to make a character which u can shape to ur liking which is a nice feature but from there there is really nothing done with it atm.......another subject which could the game much more interesting.
