I'm very surprised at how up to date things are under Aptitude, I realise it's really the links that Aptitude has that are truly up to date. Nevertheless, I've been surprised a few times by it.
How do they do it?
My only complaint is the aliasing of names under Aptitude.
As an example, I wanted wxPython, I typed in "wxPython" and it wasn't the latest version, however when I hit the enter key it told me the package was redundant and aliased by another name "python...", can't remember it.
My point is that I would love it if they got rid of redundant names or would directly refer the person to a number of packages that may match, and then ask the person to type in a name or exit.
