looks like micron doesnt think that there will be a single dominant RAM type (like PC133 was)

Hmmm... the author refers to the DDR II standard for DDR SDRAM.
I thought DDR II was a SRAM standard only (together with QDR) ?

Neither QDR and DDRII are SRAM standards. Those 2 are just tricks to double per pin bandwith.

What I meant was that DDRII and QDR are only used for SRAM and not for SDRAM.
Until now I didn't hear anything about DDRII used for SDRAM.

Umh..to my knowledge DDRII and QDR are techniques applied to DRAM memories, but there is nothing, imho, that prevents to use them on SRAM memories, with the proper modifies of course.

DDRII and QDR are only used for SRAM (as far as I know).

DDR is a technique used for SDRAM.
If you know any vendor/link that provides info about QDR/DDRII used for SDRAM, please let me know. I'd be very interested.

Ok, I did a quick search on google and I discovered DDRII and QDR are used in both the memory worlds, static and dynamic. To see DDRII and QDR specs applied to SDRAM just give a look at JEDEC and Kentrontech sites.

QDR is a standard for dual ported memory where one port is DDR read only and one is DDR write only. This is not related to Kentrontechs QBM. I'm sure Jedec wanted the QDR trademark, but it was already taken, so they had to come up with another name - DDR II.

That's how it was last time I checked. It sems as the name DDR II is used for SRAMs too now, but QDR is still SRAM only as far as I can see. The only press releases I've seen regarding Jedec and QDR is that Jedec recently approved the QDRII/DDRII SRAM standard. (Note that it should be read as that QDRII also is a SRAM standard.)
